Sulimenko Pyotr Stepanovich

Soviet Ukrainian painter.
Peter Sulimenko born on July 16, (July 29, New Style) 1914 in Ekaterinodar (now Krasnodar).
From 1932 he studied at the Krasnodar Art College.
In 1935, he continued his studies at the Rostov Art College, from which he graduated in 1936.
Since 1939 he was a student of the Kiev Stat Institute of Art.
During the Great Patriotic War, he continued his studies in the evacuation - at first in Samarkand, then in Zagorsk near Moscow.
His teachers were a famous artist Shovkunenko, Sirotenko, Fomin, Erzhikovsky.
In 1947, Sulimenko painted a painting "Immortal feat of Sevastopol", which was exhibited at the Exhibition of diploma works of students of the Kiev Institute of Art.
In the same year he became a member of the Union of Artists of the USSR.
He was a husband of an artist Zinaida Zatsepina (1913 - 1986).
He participated at many art exhibitions: regional - since 1946, national - since 1947, international - since 1950.
He worked in the field of easel painting. he was an outstanding marine painter, author of battle paintings, portraits and landscapes.
Many intersting artworks Sulimenko take created during his trips to Egypt, Singapore, Vietnam, Morocco, Algeria, Tunisia, Guinea and other countries in Africa, Asia and Europe.
He was aworded of the honorary title of Honored Artist of Ukraine in 1974.
His personal exhibitions were held in 1957 in Moscow and Kiev, in 1978 in Krasnodar, in 1989 again in Kiev.
Sulimenko's paintings are kept at the National Art Museum of Ukraine, Sevastopol Art Museum, in numerous museum, gallery and private collections in Ukraine and abroad.
