Vladimir Alexandrovich Zhugan was born in 1926 in the village Likhovka, province of Ekaterinoslav in Ukraine.
He studied at the Dnepropetrovsk Art College in 1946-1951 under the tutorship of M.S.Pogrebnyak and A.S. Kuko and was active in Dnepropetrovsk.
He began exhibiting in 1949 and took regular part in town, regional and republican exhibitions.
In 1961 he became a Member of the Union of Artists of the USSR. From 2005 he was awarded the title “ Renowned Artist of Ukraine.”
His paintings are in the historical and art museums in Dnepropetrovsk and Dneprodzerzhinsk.
Also they can be seen in the Art Gallery bearing his own name in Dnepropetrovsk and in the Chambers Gallery in London.
