Vovk Aleksandr Ivanovich

Vovk Alexander was born on November 22, 1922 in Kyiv. He was the husband of artist N.Syrotenko, father S.Vovk.
Vovk graduated from the Kiev Art Institute in 1950. His teacher of the specialty was A.Shovkunenko.
Alexander Vovk was a painter and graphic artist. The main genres of his work were the thematic painting, portrait, landscape.
Most of his paintings are executed in a realistic manner.
Vovk had been a member of the Union of Artists of the USSR since 1950.
He was awared og the title "Honored Artist of the Ukrainian SSR" in 1985, awarded other state and military awards (as a participant of the Second World War).
He was a teather at the "Kiev Institute of Decorative and Applied Art and Design named after M.Boychuk " 1951-1952.
Since 1949 he had participated in the numerous art exhibitions.
The artworks of the artist are represented in the Odessa Art Museum, Donetsk Art Museum, Poltava Art Museum, Museum of the Korsun-Shevchenko Battle (Cherkasy region), in the National Museum of Taras Shevchenko.
Alexander Vovk lived and worked in Kyiv.
He died on June 21, 2004.
