Ukrainian graphic artist and painter Viktor Ivanovich Vihtinsky was born on August 15, 1918 in Kharkov.
From 1934 to 1937 he studied in the Kharkov Art College. After his graduation he started to study in the Kharkov Art Institute, but the studies were interrupted by the war. In 1948 - 1950 he continued and finished his studies.
Since 1951 he was a member of the Union of Artists of USSR.
He worked in the field of easel graphics, easel and monumental painting.
Since 1950 Vihtinsky took an active part in the national, and since 1951 - in the international art exhibitions, including Poland (1951, 1955, 1956), Italy (1956), Japan (1958) and other countries.
Personal exhibitions of Vihtinsky were held in Kharkov (1968, 1978, 1979, 1988), Odessa (1969), Poltava (1970), Krasnograd (1979) and Kiev (1989).
In 1966 he created a series of lithographs "Industrial Ukraine", which brought him fame.
The artist traveled around the country and around the world. Vihtinsky visited Cuba, Italy, England, France, Czechoslovakia. After his travels the artist created the series of graphic drawings and paintings.
Paintings of Viktor Vihtinsky are represented in the State Tretyakov Gallery in Moscow, the State Russian Museum in St. Petersburg, the National Art Museum of Ukraine, Kharkov Art Museum, museums, galleris and private collections in Ukraine, Russia, Japan, China, Korea, France, Italy, Spain and the UK.
