Maksimenko Aleksandr is a Soviet Ukrainian artist, best known as the author of still lifes, landscapes, genre paintings and numerous portraits.
Maksimenko was born in 1916 in Vilhovatka of the Poltava region.
In 1933 - 1938 he studied at the Dnepropetrovsk art school.
In 1947 he graduated from the Kiev Art Institute, his teachers were Shovkunenko, Eleva, Bondar and Fomin.
Since 1947 he participated in the art exhibitions, including the national and international exhibition.
In 1948 he was awarded the Stalin Premium III degree (later - the State Premium) for the painting "Ownersof the land," which was exhibited at the State Tretyakov Gallery.
Maksimenko was a member of the Union of Artists of the USSR since 1947.
He was awarded the honorary title "Honored Artist of Ukraine" in 1972.
The artist's art works are represented in the National Art Museum of Ukraine, the Museum of the Great Patriotic War, in Dnipropetrovsk, Poltava and other art museums, private collections in Ukraine and abroad.
