Vladimir Kolesnik was born in 1920 in the Dnipropetrovsk region.
From 1946 to 1952 he studied at the Faculty of Painting of the Kiev State Art Institute. His teachers were A. Shovkunenko, T. Yablonskaya.
After graduation, he worked as a teacher at the Kiev Art School.
Since 1949 Kolesnik was a permanent participant of the regional, national and international art exhibitions.
He was a member of the Union of Artists of the USSR since 1964.
Kolesnik worked mainly in the field of landscape and genre painting, his paintings are bright decorative and colorful.
His artworks are represented in museums and private collections in Ukraine, Russia, Italy, Japan and France.
